My body of work has the key concept surrounding political issues and the Chinese attacks and territorial disputes of the South China seas and nearby Islands which China claims possession of in their entirety.

Chinese bullies Vietnamese fishermen

On September, 2015, the Chinese ships rammed and attacked the Vietnamese fishing boat near the disputed Paracel Islands in the South China seas. They pushed the Vietnamese boats so that they would sink and tried to prevent other boats from rescuing the fishermen. The Chinese Navy attacked the armed Vietnamese fishermen, taking navigation devices, fishing equipment and their two tonne catch of fish that they had caught. The Vietnamese boat eventually sank 12 hours later, and the fishermen were rescued after four hours of floating in their life vests.

The Chinese ships have been firing water cannons at Vietnam vessels, as they try to stop Beijing putting a 981 oil rig off at South China Sea, such as the Paracel Island of Vietnam. This is due to China believing that the Island had hidden abundance of oil and other natural resources.

China attacks Philippines

Recently, China has been wanting to dominate of the South of China Sea including the Scarborough shoal of Philippines, this archipelago is what China believed to be rich in oil and natural gas. Last year, many people in Philippines protested in the nation’s Capital over China’s bullying. The protests were attended by people who were church officials, politicians and even military officers. However after that, geographically and politically speaking, Philippines was found to be the rightful owner of this disputed territory.

Everyday Surreal - The Sunset In Tasmania

Recently Tasmania has been in drought that affects all parts of our communities such as our economical, environmental and social aspects.

In this everyday surreal, I have chosen to paint the combination of the tap and a swan and the sunset landscape, in expressing the concerns of the low water levels in lakes and ponds. As well as the lack of food and drinking water for wild animals and the Government restriction of the use of water.
